The Evolution of 2010 YouTubers

Nostalgia has this sneaky way of creeping up on us when we least expect it. Recently, I found myself immersed in a YouTube rabbit hole, courtesy of Dan and Phil Games. Remember them? They were absolute icons of the 2010 YouTube era and, remarkably, they’re still creating uproarious content today. It got me thinking about the other beloved YouTubers from that time and what they’re up to now

One pair that held a special place in my YouTube-loving heart were Jack and Finn Harries, better known as JacksGap. Their recent endeavors blew me away. They’ve transitioned from goofy YouTube antics to co-founding “Earthrise,” a media company dedicated to storytelling that challenges norms. Their mission? To amplify the environmental movement by sharing compelling stories that merge urgency with hope. Landing on Forbes’s 30 Under 30 list was just the beginning for them. Now, they’re educating and inspiring audiences about climate change and regenerative farming.

Their transformation is heartwarming, encapsulated perfectly by their words: “Our job is to build a bridge between a today and tomorrow so beautiful, that crossing it is the only thing worth doing.”

And what about the others from my YouTube childhood days? Alfie Deyes and Zoella Sugg have evolved into parenthood while still navigating the world of social media and content creation. Marcus Butler has ventured into modeling alongside his content endeavors. Caspar Lee? He’s dived into co-founding not just one, but two companies – Creator Ventures and Influencer.

Then there’s Dave Days, still serenading us with amazing music but taking a step back from YouTube videos. And of course, icons like Dan and Phil, and Smosh, continue to thrive on the platform.

It’s incredible to witness how these individuals, initially pursuing a similar path, have veered into diverse directions with such agility.

Reflecting on these journeys, it’s a testament to the evolving nature of not just the online sphere but also our own personal growth. Who knows where the next decade will take them or what new avenues they’ll explore? One thing’s for sure: the evolution of these creators continues to inspire us all.

Who were some of your favorite 2010 YouTubers?
