On February 4, 2022, a large line formed in front of the Cleveland House of Blues in the cold snow. Concert-goers of all ages waited patiently to get into the warm, welcoming building, ready to be immersed into Set It Off’s Elsewhere.
Touring alongside Florida alternative rock group Set It Off was UK alternative Indie group As It Is, Australian alternative Indie pop group Stand Atlantic, and Pennsylvania native alternative Indie performer No Love For The Middle Child, creating a smooth, and rocking line-up.
Starting off the night’s festivities was No Love For The Middle Child. Wasting no time, he jumped right into hyping up the crowd. He was full of energy as he maneuvered around the stage. Cody Carson, the lead singer of Set It Off, joined him on stage to sing their collaborated song, “Older” during his set as well, teasing the crowd for the headlining band. Throughout his performance, he interacted with the crowd, telling stories behind some of his songs. He kept it fun and light.
As It Is took the stage next, showering the crowd with even more energy than No Love For The Middle Child. Patty Walters, the band’s lead singer, jumped and hopped across the stage, letting the music energize him. Ronnie Ish, the band’s bass player, matched Walters’ energy with his own stunts while performing. The band’s newest album, “I WENT TO HELL AND BACK” was released that morning, making the crowd at the Cleveland House of Blues the first to hear a few songs from the album live. Walters at one point laid on the stage and said, “This is the part of the set where I lay down and just talk for a moment.”

He told some jokes and then talked about how grateful he was to be there performing alongside his tourmates. The set As It Is performed was packed full of energetic movements and playful moments, making it an unforgettable performance.
Matching the energy of their tourmates, Stand Atlantic hyped up the crowd further with their set. The Australian band made a perfect mix of older songs with newer songs, creating a seamless set that got the crowd moving once again. For their song “Deathwish,” No Love For The Middle Child joined the band on stage to sing their collaborator's part in the song, earning louder screams from the crowd. Stand Atlantic hyped up their tourmates and teased the crowd about the headliner performing next. Their set kept you guessing about what song and genre they would be playing next, keeping the crowd locked in and alert.

With dramatic fashion, Set It Off had a countdown to their performance. After getting the stage set up, a countdown began with little jokes about Elsewhere. A few memorable moments from the announcements included, “Casual Fridays have been canceled for the foreseeable future” and “The humans have escaped again.” These are paraphrased, but the reactions from the actual announcements had the crowd laughing and booing about the casual Friday situation. When the countdown finished, the crowd went wild as Set It Off began taking the stage. Set It Off, with their always perfect and wild setlist, fueled more energy into the crowd as their set went on. Carson talked about how special it was to perform at the Cleveland House of Blues, mentioning the first time he performed on stage with All Time Low and realizing that was what he was meant to do. He also mentioned how he incorporated the song “Danny Boy” into two of the band’s songs about his father, leading into “Unopened Windows.” The band even played a mash-up of 12 of their favorite songs to perform, having Walters from As It Is join them on stage for the snippet of “Partners In Crime.” This earned a loud and wild reaction from the crowd as the two frontmen jumped up and down on the platform on stage, finishing the mash-up. For their song “Bad Guy,” Carson and Maxx Danziger, the band’s drummer, switched places, making for a fun change. After their set was finished, the crowd chanted for an encore, and Set It Off emerged from backstage once more to perform one more song.

Set It Off’s Welcome to Elsewhere tour is fun and a welcomed distraction from the chaos in the world at the moment. Each performer hypes up the crowd just enough to keep the energy high for the next. The jokes and collaborations each group does add humor and energy to the tour, keeping the crowd entertained and excited.
Set It Off’s newest album Elsewhere was released on March 11th. You can listen to it on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Pandora, and Deezer.
